This research summarizes the dramatic connection between academic performance of elementary school children and regular, vigorous physical activity in schools.
With budget cuts and time constraints due to the requirements of "No Child Left Behind (NCLB)," less than 8% of elementary schools have regular PE Yet, the data from the dozens of studies collected in this report show that academic performance is hurt, not helped, by less school-based physical activity.

30 Minutes a Day Can Reduce Risks for Type 2 Diabetes and Early Chronic Diseases (ECD)
Before offering its PE program to the elementary school teachers, Early Sport Foundation conducted a PE effectiveness protocol test at Silver Mesa Elementary, Jordan School District, UT. The purposes of this protocol test were:
- Developing and testing a standardized method of evaluation the effectiveness of PE programs based upon the use of medically recognized bio-markers for the detection of Early Chronic Diseases (ECD).
- Determining whether a PE program designed to maintain elevated heart rates (50% or more of a class period) can effect positive changes in recongized bio-markers for detection of ECD.
- Measuring the effectiveness of the Early Sport program as a first test of this protocol.
