Creating Classrooms Full of Champions™
To attack childhood obesity, the entire program is designed to keep heart rates elevated.
Elements of the EarlyGames™ Program:
To be effective and safe; to be a complete, turnkey physical activity program used by non-PE teachers; and to be inclusive of all abilities; the EarlyGames™ program includes:
Class Activity Sequence
Dozens of Fun GamesA complete activity period Teaching Guide on one page. Kids select a game to play, play it, select another, then play it - selecting from a variety of games and circuits.
- The back of the game card is a complete "Teaching Guide" leading the teacher/coach through a complete exercise period.
- Every game includes "EarlySkills" teaching fundamental sport skills that are easily transferrable to many sports.
- Cool down and critical hydration instructions are given with every game.
- A short nutrition lesson is included, to be discussed with the kids during the cool-down period.
- Kids are encouraged to develop their own games and send them to us. After evaluation (for safety and other factors) we add the best ones to our official games, and give them to everyone.
Warm-ups, Stretches, and Cool Downs
EarlyPrepTo ensure safety during game play, kids learn the importance of warm-ups, proper stretching, and the role of cool downs. They experience them as fun, learning skills they will use for the rest of their lives.
- Fun warm-up games are used to get muscles and ligaments warm before stretching.
- For variety, five different sets of warm-ups are provided.
- Simple, effective, strength-building skills.
- Cool downs are always used.
Skill-learning Stations and Class Management System
EarlySport Play SystemKids say the number one reason they quit sports is that "it's not fun any more." Lack of fun starts with being chosen last on a team, not getting equal playing time, and not getting the chance to learn fundamental skills in a sport. The Class Management System addresses all of these factors simultaneously.
- Ensures class control.
- Everyone gets equal play time.
- Eliminates choosing "sides," or "teams."
- "Class disrupters" can't dominate, everyone gets the "best" positions.
- Every child gets skill-building time.
- Inexperienced teachers learn how to organize and control their PE class.
Core Play Values and Philosophy of Games
EarlySport SpiritCore play values for teachers/coaches to use daily are included on every game card.
- A place for all abilities to participate for fun and enjoyment.
- Special needs children are easily accommodated in the program. Teachers learn how to modify activities for them, while integrating them into play with the other children.
- Self-improvement at individual rates in a non-competitive environment.
-
- Core Play Values of EarlyGames™:
- Participation is the key: Participating vs. winning.
- Success is doing your best.
- "Fun" is trying and learning new things.
- Every skill level participates.
- "Sides" vs. "teams."
- Develop skills transferrable to other sports, in preparation for lifetime activities.
Nutrition & Hydration
Healthy Schools/Healthy Kids™Every game highlights important kid-healthy nutrition concepts, and repeats the importance of proper hydration. These are discussed during the cool down period.
- Reinforces the nutrition concepts taught in the GoZonkers™ program.
Sportsmanship and Code of Personal Responsibility
EarlyChoicesSportsmanship is involved in every multi-child play situation. EarlyGames™ explains and reinforces good sportsmanship values in every game - teaching personal responsibility for lifelong effect. Summarized, these are:
- I choose to respect individuals and the sport.
- I choose to always do my best.
- I choose to support my team.
- I choose to always do the right thing.
- I choose to have lots of fun.
Teacher/Coach Training Program
(not prictured above)
Classrooms Full of ChampionsTo ensure every child has great experiences with the program, EarlyGames has a training program for teachers/coaches. With full training of teachers/coaches, every child feels they are a champion. With that, kids will continue to be physically active their entire lives.
- Customizable, 8 hour training sessions. Shorter versions available.
- Training includes kid-healthy nutrition.
- Practicum includes Class Management System, warm-ups, games, circuits, etc.
Fitness Self-evaluation
(not prictured above)
Early GoalsEvery child learns how to assess their fitness level, design a personal program for improvement, set personal fitness goals, know how to assess their improvement in reaching those goals, then design a new program. Only EarlyGames does it.
- Kids learn to evaluate their own fitness level against their own abilities, not artificial standards based on national "kids ought to be able to do this" norms.
- Kids set fitness goals and track their progress... competing only against themselves.
- Kids enjoy "circuit" games to improve their fitness level.
- Kids tell us circuits are a favorite part of EarlyGames™.
